Course Description

Military Sealift Command’s CBRD Officer course equips designated shipboard leaders to plan, lead, and sustain Chemical, Biological, Radiological Defense programs that protect crews and mission-critical logistics in contested environments. Through focused classroom instruction and hands-on practical application, participants learn hazard recognition and reporting, shipboard CBR detection and monitoring, individual and collective protection, contamination control and decontamination, material readiness and equipment management, and integration of CBRD procedures into damage control, medical response, and continuity of operations. The course emphasizes doctrine, shipboard configuration and equipment, respiratory protection and fit, alarm management, protective posture setting, drills and exercises, and consequence management planning—preparing graduates to implement CBRD readiness, direct response teams, and restore ship survivability and operations following CBR incidents.
