MITAGS has been recognized by NOAA and the National Weather Service as a 2021 Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassadors of Excellence. A select number of WRN Ambassadors are recognized every year for their significant contributions to building a Weather-Ready Nation.
MITAGS’s recognition comes as the organization remains a key Ocean Prediction Center (OPC) partner and WRN Ambassador, promoting maritime weather safety and awareness via virtual trainings and feedback sessions for MITAGS weather classes, as well as sharing content on MITAGS’ social channels to increase marine awareness and safety messages. In addition, for 2021, MITAGS ensured coordination with OPC on the 2021 NWS editorial calendar for its own planning purposes.
